Position Description:        Assembly Technician

 

Position Summary:           Position will involve the assembling and troubleshooting customized mechanical and PLC operated bakery equipment and assemblies.

Reporting Relationship:   Manufacturing/Supply Chain Manager

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Effectively assemble, operate, and repair electro/mechanical equipment.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, etc. on equipment and assemblies according to drawings, instructions, and specifications.
  • Work collaboratively with other technicians, supervisors, and engineers.
  • Execute incoming inspections of equipment and parts using existing QC worksheets.
  • Effectively communicate problems and observations to management.
  • Ability to measure dimensions of parts/tools using callipers, micrometers, indicators, various gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Utilize computer system to pull applicable drawings and QC paperwork, file completed paperwork.
  • Inspect final products to assess compliance with quality standards and established tolerances.

 

Skills and Specifications:

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently.
  • Attention to detail with small mechanical tolerances (less than .001”).
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings, as well as internal process documentation.
  • Ability to quality check individual parts as well as assembled machinery (using a provided QC checklist)
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety standards.
  • Willingness to take charge, offer and take direction, give opinions, and accept feedback.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and operate efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Displays good judgment in the face of changing priorities and multiple problems.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High school degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in assembly and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds, occasionally having to manipulate 100+ pounds items (with support equipment).
  • Ability to work off of ladders and work in warm/cool climates.
  • Must have own tools/toolbox
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
